W Wordlock

Don’t finish
the word.

A turn-based two player word game. Pick a category, take turns adding a single letter to a growing string — whoever completes a real word loses the round.

Whoever typed that R just lost the round.

How a round works

1

Pick a category

Animals, Plants, Countries — or type your own. 90s bands. Things in this room. Your ex’s red flags.

2

Take turns

One letter each, appended to the end. Nobody is trying to spell anything. The word gets longer and the trap gets tighter.

3

Call it

Think the board already spells something? Tap Settle round instead of playing. Agree, and the round goes to whoever didn’t play the finishing letter. No dictionary settles this — you two do.

4

Eleven rounds

Most rounds won takes the session. Ties don’t happen. Stuck with nothing to play? Concede, keep your dignity, start again clean.

What it looks like

The first turn of a round, with an empty string and a keyboard.
One code. That’s the whole setup.
Letters in play, spelling the start of a word neither player wants to finish.
One letter each. Don’t finish the word.
A settle request, asking the other player to agree the string is already a word.
Think they’ve spelled it? Call it.
The result screen at the end of eleven rounds, with the score table.
Eleven rounds. Most wins takes it.

What you get

Good for couples in a queue, friends in different time zones, and anyone who thinks they’re better with words than the person sitting opposite them.
